Fruit is a welcome addition any time of the year, but I think it is especially important in the winter time. In fact, when it is close to the holidays, it seems to me that fruit provides an added flare to your table setting. Not only is a bowl of fruit an eye-pleasing display, but the taste, textures, and aromas bring happiness to your heart. Who knew that a fruit of the month club could offer all that?
This month’s shipment contained apples and oranges. Ahhh, but not just any apple or orange. I received Fuji Apples and Satsuma Mandarins. As usual, with the Golden State Fruit Club, some informational sheets were provided with the fruit, so I knew exactly what was contained in my fruit shipment.
Fuji Apples are among the most popular apple selections in America. They are a Japanese apple that is a descendant of a Red Delicious and a Ralls Janet apple. Fuji Apples are firm and flavorful, perfect for eating fresh or baked in a pie. Also included in the informational sheet was a recipe for Apple Cranberry Oat Bake, which is a delicious combination of an apple crisp and cranberry oatmeal. Sounds like a recipe worth trying!
Satsuma Mandarins are small oranges similar to Clementines. They are easy to peel and really pack in the flavor! They are my children’s favorite oranges to eat, and this is due to the thick peel, the strong sweet taste, and the fact that the mandarins are almost seedless. Included was a recipe for the mandarines as well, with instructions on how to create an Arugula, Mandarin, and Fennel Salad. Delicious and unique!
The Golden State Fruit Club provides a professional and pleasing product.
